Hands down, having an engagement session is the best way to get used to a professional camera before the wedding. If you feel like being in front of a camera seems daunting, it's a great idea to book an engagement session to erase your fears and make it a fun celebration with just you two.
My wedding packages include the engagement session for this reason. It's an opportunity to get to know your wedding photographer - one of the vendors who will be around you the most on your day. Comfort is key when it comes to being photographed in a vulnerable position where you're showcasing your unique love story with another. Not only will it be a learning experience for you, but I'll get to know your personalities, natural chemistry, and fun quirks.
You're not alone if you think you're awkward or shy in front of the camera. All the images you see in my portfolio are of real couples that have thought the same thing. You'll receive direction and guidance on posing so you're never left wondering what to do with your hands.
And don't fret if you have a partner that doesn't like getting their picture taken. I lead sessions with comfort and empathy to get beautiful images and an experience they'll enjoy, too.
You'll receive a mix of polished portraits of you that could be magazine-worthy, and candid images of you two enjoying each other's company while I direct you into a pose that will look completely natural. I strive for genuine smiles and laughs - something only my lame jokes and sarcasm can offer. Most importantly, I strive for a feeling of comfort to reveal the real you into the end result.
Your images will be edited individually in-house that will have my bold yet film-like signature style that would stick when trends fade. You'll get the attention to detail that you're expecting. If you ever wondered about safe backups, your images are backed up as soon as they're taken since I have cameras that can save images to 2 memory cards simultaneously. And that's only the first step of my backup system - they'll be saved in different locations after getting home.
I'll take the time to get to know you that way I can learn more about your vision and story. We'll begin brainstorming your engagement session on possible locations, time of year, dates, timing of the session, and wardrobe options. We'll also discuss including props and any pets in your session - bring your furry friends! Most importantly, I'd go over how the session typically goes - explaining how to prepare for it, and how I direct my couples with posing, lighting, and composition.
Let's choose a location that means a lot to your relationship. Is there a location you two frequent? Are you happiest by the sea, in the city, near greenery, or a specific spot where you had your first date? Or you can hand over the process to me and I'll suggest some epic locations that we can check off the bucket list.

After receiving your edited engagement session images, you can use them for various wedding decorations - such as picture frames, canvas displays on an easel, on a projector slideshow during your reception, and a sign-in guestbook. If you booked your session early enough, you can use them for your Save The Date and wedding website.
My couples love ordering an engagement photo-book from me that displays their images in a high-quality and portable album, as well as a sign-in guestbook where guests can write their well wishes alongside gushing over your engagement photos!
